Eurovision Hackathon
The Eurovision Hackathon was a one-day research event organised by the Sydney Social Sciences and Humanities Advanced Research Centre (SSSHARC) and the Computational Social Science Lab. It brought together Eurovision experts and early career scholars from 5 Australian universities to investigate the social, cultural, and political aspects of the Eurovision Song Contest. Using digital trace data on Twitter as an empirical point of entry, researchers worked in teams to incubate projects that apply a suite of innovative computational approaches to studying online discourses and interactions surrounding this international cultural phenomenon. The event was supported by the Sydney Corpus Lab and the Sydney Informatics Hub and introduced participants to available tools from the Australian Text Analytics Platform.
